As a vendor at the 2011 Pacific Northwest Elections Conference, Laserfab publicly revealed its newest version of the Vote Armor ballot collection box (shown with casters on its legs for mobility at the conference). The unveiling comes at a significant time as next month marks the one-year-mark for Vote Armor. What started as a bid request from Pierce County in early 2010 for more secure Vote-By-Mail ballot drop boxes, blossomed into an exciting product line for Laserfab. Bids were submitted to Pierce County along with a proposed design for the boxes Laserfab intended to build. Our winning design was a culmination of general requirements from Pierce County and added creativity from Laserfab.

Not only was cost a basis for the decision to place the work with Laserfab, but good design also played a major role. "Vote Armor far exceeds anything else on the market," says Cindy Hartman of Pierce County. Some of the notable improvements over existing models on the market came in the form of increased capacity, more vandal resistant features, easier access for ballot collection teams, and an over-all sleeker aesthetic. Every feature of the box had purpose. Whatsmore, according to Cindy, "Voters certainly like the boxes."

Pierce County was instrumental in the development of what has become known as Vote Armor. To them it seemed obvious Vote Armor was headed places. Instantly, the features of Vote Armor had value and would bring positive change to the elections process. Upon their recommendation Laserfab decided to take Vote Armor to the 2011 Pacific Northwest Elections Conference in Vancouver, WA. Here, conference attendees experienced the Vote Armor product and envisioned the drop boxes in their community. Many contacts were made and inquiries from Washington and Oregon were submitted. Coming away from this event, Laserfab is better informed of what is important to the elections community and how to serve it best.

The furture of Vote Armor is bright and Laserfab is excited for the growth. Keep your eyes peeled for the introduction of Vote Armor Vote-By-Mail ballot drop boxes in your community.
